Greetings

Dear colleagues and friends:
We are very pleased and honored to organize the First International Conference on Neural Interface and Control (CNIC) in Wuhan. P. R. China, from May 26 to 28, 2005.
This conference will bring together the world’s leading experts in the emerging field of neural interfaces and technologies, neural injuries and rehabilitations to present their most recent work and provide a collegial atmosphere for the scientific discussion of the latest advances in the field. This new, multidisciplinary research field integrates nano/micro technology, system engineering and signal processing with basic neuroscience research, neuroengineering and clinical neural medicine and rehabilitation to create novel neural interface devices and therapeutic approaches.

Technical Programs consist of two day scientific interactions among all participants. The format of the meeting include workshops, panel discussions and poster sessions to maximize opportunity for direct interaction among participants:
• Workshops will be lectures given by invited speakers (domestic and international)
• Panel discussions will be organized around each workshop and between poster sessions.
• Poster viewing sessions will be held during breaks between workshops and panel discussion sessions.

Who should particpate:
Biomedical, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineers
Neuroscientists
System Scientists and Mathematicians
Neurological Medicine Practitioners

Introduction of Wuhan

Wuhan, the capital city of Hubei province, is located in the junction of the Changjiang River and the Hanjiang river. Hankou is the business center, education center, and Wuhan a place with several scenic spots. Wuhan boasts of a natural landscape rarely founded in any other big cities. As a cradle of Chu culture, the historic relics and places of interest are scattered in Wuhan.(www.wuhan.net.cn)

Tours

A program of local tours and post–conference tour will be arranged by Wuhan Travel Service, China The tentative post-conference tour (PT) program is as follows.
PTl Three Gorges Tour
Coursing over a distance of 6,380 kilometers, the mighty Yangtze is the longer river in China. It is also a cradle of ancient Chinese civilization.
The most impressive section of the river is the three Yangtze River gorges: the Qutang Gorge, Wu Gorge and Xiling Gorge, collectively known as the Sanxia, or Three Gorges. Three Gorges are the most magnificent and splendid along the Yangtze River. The Xiliing Gorges is famed for its breath – taking steepness, the Wu Gorge is noted for its elegance and grace, and the Qutang Gorge is famous for its magnificence, moreover, the Small Three Gorges is known as its bending river course and grotesque and tranquil mountains. The historic relics and legends along the Three Gorges
attract many tourists. Nowadays ,the Three Gorges Dam is still under construction, and the amazing new scenery will appear after it is completed.(www.sanxia.cn www.365sanxia.com.cn)

PT2 Tour of Wudangshan Mountain

Wudangshan Mountain is the Southern Center of Daoism and many of the Daoist martial arts, medicine and wisdom traditions have started. The first Daoist temple--the “Five Ragon Temple,” was built 1,300 years ago during the Tang Dynasty. In the 15th Century, the Ming emperor sent 300,000 soldiers and workers to build 160 monasteries, temples. pavilions, and other structures. It took them more than 10 year to complete the construction. The area then became a major center of Daoism. Although many of the old structures decayed in the following centuries, there are still many well-preseryed temples.
Tai chi originated in Wudangshan as a martial art; it has been transformed over the centuries into a sort of meditative dance. (www.chinawudang.com)

Tour of Lushan Mountain
Lushan Mountain situated in the north of Jiangxi Province, towers high by the side of Yangtze River and the Poyang Lake. With its luxuriant peaks, cool and pleasant weather in summer and its beautiful scenery, it has been known from ancient time as a place having unrivalled beauty under the sky.( http://www.shlottery.gov.cn/epublish/gb/paper450/2/class045000002/hwz1201966.html)
